I Quite Agree

Posted on August 25, 2007 at 08:48 PM

I used to dread getting older because I thought I would not be able to do all the things I wanted to do, but now that I am older I find that I don't want to do them.

Monday Madness

Posted on August 20, 2007 at 02:46 PM

Not done this meme before so I thought I'd give it a try:

1. How many desktop computers in your home? Currently 4. One each for everyone. It might seem an obscene amount but two of them are hand-me-downs and Son1 buys his own. I don't think it would work in our house if we had to share although we used to do. I can't imagine us doing that now.

2. How many laptops? None. Shocking, eh?

3. What kind of Internet service do you have? (i.e. phone modem, dsl, etc.) We have cable access through NTL. Never a spot of bother, actually. I know others have nightmare stories of this company but it's always been fine for us

4. Do you tend to use more than one email account regularly? Yes. I have three currently but I have had up to 7 going. That was just silly and now I've cut it down to a much more reasonable number.

5. Do you use email as a main source for communicating to your family and friends? Yes. Which reminds me; I need to email my mum.

6. What kind of computer monitor do you own (flat screen, or other)? I have a wide screen LCD. Another hand-me-down from Son1 when he upgraded. It's a very nice one actually. I didn't really understand why he upgraded but he's an avid game player and can get better screen shots on his newest one.

That's My Answer!

Posted on August 15, 2007 at 01:07 PM

I'm having problems consistently writing in my blog so I've joined a few memes to help me. Today it's That's My Answer:

What website or blog do you visit daily?

The BBC News site. I can't get by with my daily fix of what's going on in the world and I find the BBC News site the easiest and clearest to follow.

I also have three blogs that I always check:
Blue Witch
Mad Musings of Me
Tic Toc Tami's Clock

I think I have a little OCD thing going on with them :)

What about you?

Did You Know...

...that on this day in 1998 Oxford English Dictionary publishers sanctioned split infinitives? Thus it became grammatically correct to say "to boldly go where no man has gone before"

I'm not boldly going anywhere at the moment. I've had quite a busy week with some work around the house being finished off. I over did it a bit on Saturday which meant I slept most of Sunday away. Another quite busy day today as we have visitors calling tomorrow and the house will be full so I need to get ready for that. I won't be able to sleep it off on Wednesday though as it's Youngest Son's 18th birthday. We're not going overboard with celebrating as he's just not that type of person - although that's partly what Tuesday is all about - so he and I will be going to the cinema to see The Simpson's Movie as he's an avid fan.

I must get the photos taken of my finished objects. I've got 4 of them at the moment and haven't showcased any of them. I seem to be constantly out of time - I'm either busy or asleep. There never seems to be any middle ground!

Tattoo Anyone

On one of the knitting lists I belong to someone sent a link to a blog that has pictures of people's tattoos.

Knitting Tattoos

My favourite was one on another site (only I can't remember where it is) with the logo - Knit Happens. Very cool :)

I may have to indulge in one for myself.

Beijing's penis emporium

It's an old posting from the BBC but I've only just found it. After reading it I needed a good cup of tea whilst harbouring thoughts of becoming veggie again despite what my doctor thinks...

The ears of John Barleycorn

*Gather loved ones, gather friends,
Healing wounds and making mends.
Lighting fires: The feast begins
As the wheel turns

*Lo, John Barleycorn's golden brow,
Place upon it the Wild Lord's crown.
We'll soon get to cut him down
As the wheel turns.

*Mark you all this time of year.
Bring in grains and make your beer.
Bake some bread and bring good cheer,
As the wheel turns

Morinnan 2007

Brightest Blessings to you all for Lughnasadh. Don't forget to bake some bread, eat it with jam and drink a glass of bear. Fitting food for the first of the harvest festivals :)
