Even though it's been quiet here that doesn't mean I've done nothing over the past weeks. When I've been able to stay awake for long enough there's been the knitting - updates and photos about that soon - and of course there's been visits with and from the family. I even got to babysit grand-daughter3 although she didn't make it easy for me.
Daughter1 and Son-in-Law1 took Grand-daughter1 out for a treat as she'd had such a good school report. I said I'd be happy to baby-sit so that Grand-daughter1 could have some special time with her parents. However, it proved to be a tough one as Grand-daughter3 cried for two solid hours! I did everything to make her feel comfortable - changed her nappy, gave her a drink, sang to her (I'm a bit off-key so that probably didn't help), hugged her, rocked her, left her alone for a few minutes. Nothing seemed to work.
I've obviously lost my touch :/
She finally calmed down after I gave her some infant paracetamol. I don't know if she was in pain before she started crying but I figured after 2 hours of yelling she'd probably got a head-ache! I had about 30 minutes of a happy baby by the time her mum got home. Then she was all smiles! She's obviously a mummy's girl not a nana's girl.
Daughter1 says she often does this and it wasn't me. She's got quite a fiery temper on and once she starts everyone just has to be patient and wait until she's finished. I think she should have been born a red head not a blond!
Daughter1 has promised me a break before she asks me again. Of about 3 months.
I'll need that long to recuperate, I think :)
