Did You Know...

...the ratio of left-handed people to right handed people is increasing? If the present trend continues, "lefties" will outnumber "righties" in the year 2456.

Within my own family group - myself and Himself, our five children and 5 grandchildren - there are three lefties; Daughter1, Grandson2 and Grand-daughter3 (who is only 5 months old but definitely grabs and leads with her left hand). That works out to be 33%!

How many lefties in your family?

I am pretty sure that the brats would have been lefties if it was not for the school systems. Stinkie used to draw with both hands at the same time until she was about 5 years old.

Three: my mom, aunt, and niece

My left handed Aunt (born 1920) insists that my father (1928) was left handed but had it beaten it out of him at school, hence the stammer. Their generation is dying (not her, she's got another couple of decades left in her), and are being replaced by those not having it beaten out of them. So the proportion increase will level out in about 20 years.

I reckon anyway ;-)

I'm a "both". I can write with both but tend to use one hand over the other for certain tasks. Now, which hand, varies depending on what it is I'm doing.

Hi, my mom and number 3 son are ambidexterous. And by the way... Tag! You're it!

I have one who is left-handed. His Aunt was so proud when this was discovered.

Years ago, while doing an Art minor we were told to a project with our "weaker" hand. It was fun to do and since then I have been able to do certain thing as a "leftie".

Difficultly though...

Mr BW is the only one in either of our families that we are aware of. But you'd never know unless you thought about it because he's not one of those lefties that makes a big song and dance about things!

I think Gert's correct about the school system in days of old attempting to 'correct' people so skewing the statistics. Lots of my older friends tell tales of brutal treatment to attempt to make them right handed.
